How old must my child be to enter pre-kindergarten or kindergarten?

Students applying to pre-kindergarten or kindergarten must be four or five years old on or before September 1 st in the year of enrollment.

What is acceptance to San Jose Episcopal Day School based on?
Acceptance is based on scores received from highly individualized tests, group observation and/or classroom visits, and previous school history, including standardized test scores and teacher recommendations. Priority status is given to siblings of current students, church members, and children of alumni.
When may I file an application?
Applications are accepted at any time, with no formal cut-off date. Testing for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten applicants is held in January for admission the following August. Grade level applicants are invited on an individual basis to spend a day in the classroom.
What must accompany the application?
A testing/application fee of $100.00 is due with the application. A recent photograph of the applicant is also requested along with the completed grade level form. Students applying for admission to grade level positions are asked to submit a writing sample. Upon acceptance of an enrollment contract, parents are required to furnish a copy of the student's birth certificate, social security card, and the appropriate Florida health forms.
What is the average class size?
Classes average 16 - 18 students. Teachers in grades pre-kindergarten through first grade have individual teaching assistants. Teachers in grades 2-6 have grade level assistants.
Is it possible to take a tour of the school?
