Food Market
December 2nd, 2006 by stolisano
We were strolling not too far from our hotel when we found a typical street market. Live & dead animals were for sale as well as fresh vegetable and fruit. Mrs. St-Cyr and my eyes were growing larger and larger the more we were able to identify some of the items that were for sale. Can you figure out what they were selling from the picture? This delicacy is used in soup. There are other photos that you can look at in our Photo Gallery. Make sure you do not look at these pictures if you are hungry. ![]()

Great job capturing the market place lifestyle. Did you buy any food items? I’m sure you are missing the convenience of shopping at Publix.
Certainly does not look like Kentucky Fried Chicken!!!I think I could diet very easily here!!
We think we will pass on that soup!
Mrs. Dawson’s class would like to know what the egg - looking item was? We think it is a type of egg, but are not sure. Can you help us with that?
We are proud of Mrs. St.Cyr for trying all the food. Your mango pudding looked good.
How exciting!!!!!!!
The market is amazing. Are those hands and fingers? Yuck! We’re so glad that you found a Starbucks and had something good to drink. We bet Jose is having a wonderful time. Take care of yourselves and enjoy every minute of your wonderful experience!

Hi Mrs. Dawson’s class
What looks like an egg is NOT! It is a fruit from Malaysia and actually tastes delicious. What is it called? We don’t know. My uncle was so kind to get them for us at the market. He also got some other food for us which was not so good. Mrs. St-Cyr tried it: Dried, fried Octopus. I chickened out. I am not very brave concerning food. I like my beef steak
That looked like a little bird egg - we can’t believe it is a fruit.
Did the Starbucks taste like Starbucks here?
Have you gone to Kentucky Fried Chicken?
We hope you find a beef steak soon. : )
Tell Mrs. St.Cyr to keep being adventurous.
Zoe was the winner of our noodle eating contest! Who knew she could eat so many noodles, so quickly? 2 minutes and 45 seconds!
Hope you are having fun!
Well, Alec had a little trouble with the noodles, so the time for Menger’s class is 12 minutes and 14 seconds. Jenner was his challenger, but he did not do as well as Alec.
Hope you are doing well with your food there.
All of the second graders have really enjoyed looking at the food from the market.. We had so many different answers on what we thought the delicacy was. Some of us thought they were ostrich or chicken’s feet. Please let us know. Also we really want to know the other things they eat there. We are going to try a few Chinese foods on Thursday.
Mrs. McKnight,
Way to go ZOE !!!! Congratulations on the noodle eating.
Mrs. Davidson,
They are CHICKEN FEET!
Now that’s Extreme!! I guess they have to take advantage of every “natural” resource! Any pizza huts??
We miss you both!
