This is your seventh letter for the China ABC puzzle.

“L” stands for Language.

Standard Mandarin is the official Chinese spoken language used by the People’s Republic of China.  Mandarin is used as the language all school subjects are taught in school.  But there are many different languages spoken all over China.  In Hong Kong for example we heard only  “Cantonese” , here in Shanghai they speak ” Shanghainese”. It is in the Beijing area that  the local language is Mandarin. There are many many more dialects in China. Those are all different from each other and someone speaking Cantonese might not understand someone who is speaking Shanghainese.
