Xi’An- Update

Ni Hao SJEDS,

We spent a long day visiting the Terra-Cotta Warriors. It was amazing. We are only back at our hotel for a few minutes before we head out again for a “Dumpling Dinner”.

Jose is very exhausted from today’s tour and might stay back at the hotel to catch up on his sleep. He has had a super time at the Terra-Cotta Worriors and had his picture taken with some of them.

Xian 008 Xian 030Jose is getting braver and braver in trying eating Chinese food. He is also working on his chopsticks skills. By the time he comes back home he will be an expert.

We also visited a Tea House and the Wild Goose Pagoda. We heard some amazing stories behind these places. Please check back on the blog with all the news from today’s adventure a little later in your school day. We hope to have the posts up for you by 11 am (your time).

We took so many wonderful pictures, video and audio yesterday and today, but are not able to upload any of them here in Xi’An. Please cross all your fingers and toes, that we will be able to upload them once we are in Beijing (Saturday). So keep checking over the weekend from home…

So glad you are having a good time.
Mrs. Freyer’s class has some questions about the Terracotta Warriors:
What is Quin Shi Huangdi’s real name?
How many more warriors do you think are still buried?
Why were the warriors buried with real weapons?

We are glad that you had a good day with the Terra Cotta warriors. We can’t wait to see your pictures! Our class would like to know how long it took to uncover all of the warriors. We are also interested in your “dumpling dinner.” What did you have to eat there? Are the dumplings in China like the ones we have here in our Chinese restaurants?

The terra-cotta warriors must have been an overwhelming experience! Is it your most favorite site on the trip to date? I am eager to show the third graders the recent videos, especially the one on calligraphy. Be safe, and get some rest! Ms. Barnwell

    Mrs. Gatling’s class,
The dumplings are very tasty. After being offered so many of them, one after the other, they do start tasting the same. Some of the dumplings are vegetarian, beef, pork, seafood, chicken, pumpkin, walnut, ham, cabbage, etc.

    Mrs. Freyer’s class,
The emperor QinShihuang’s real name was: ZhaoZheng. We were told that they think that there are about 6000 warriors left to be un-earthed.
    Mrs. Morgan’s class,
Here is what the dumplings looked like. Do they look the same?
