After over 24 hours of total travel time, we have finally arrived in the great city of Cairo, or Al Qahirah, as the Egyptians call their capital city. After leaving Jacksonville, we flew to Washington, D.C., our nation’s capital, where we had a six hour lay over. We tried to write a post to the blog while there, but our internet connection was not working. Getting on our flight to Frankfurt, we boarded the German airline Lufthansa.

We saw an excellent display of German punctuality, while passengers were still finding their seats and putting baggage in the overhead bins, the plane started taxiing down the runway. That pilot was determined to leave on schedule. Our flight to Frankfurt took eight hours, and when we arrived we had only a short time to make our connecting flight. We did however manage to squeeze in time to buy some German chocolates (Kinderschokolade, Duplo and Hanuta) YUMMY! From Frankfurt we had a four hour flight to Cairo.

We were so happy to hear you made it safely to Egypt. Mrs. Dawson had Mrs. McKnight’s class in tech Connect when you Skyped us. All they could say was that is so cool- being able to see you as well as seeing the Nile behind you!!!

The fourth graders were very excited to see that you all arrived safely. We all enjoyed the pictures of Jose and the students were amazed to see the pictures of the city that you took from the airplane. We were excited to actually see the Nile after hearing so much about it. Take care and be safe. -Ms. Blumstein’s fourth grade class
