Mrs. Davidson's class,
Yes, everything is incredibly big and tall. It is hard to imagine that these monuments were built thousands of years ago, without modern technology and machines to help them.

Mrs. Freyer's class,
The man asked for money, because people are looking for tips for ANYTHING that they do, because it is very hard to earn some money for many people in Egypt. Every little bit helps them to feed their families. Mrs. Menger did give them money, so she could help them out and take a great picture for all of you to see back home.
Originally the pyramid of Giza stood 146 meters (you can figure out how many feet that is, but over the years, since 2570 B.C. (that is how many years ago?)the height has been reduced by 9 meters because of erosion. The pyramids are made of 2.3 million limestone blocks. They weigh 2.5 tons each. Our guide told us that if you were to take all the material that was used to build the pyramids you could build a wall around France.
We chose not to go into the pyramids, because the guide warned us not to go in if any of us is the slightest bit of claustrophobic. Mrs. Menger wasn't too sure that she wanted to try this out. In addition it was already soooo hot on the outside.
The sphinx is not as tall as I had imagined it. It stands 20 meter tall.

From the 6th grade:
Why did the men ask for money for having their pictures taken? Did you give money to them?
How big was the pyramid at Giza?
What was the pyramid made of?
Did you get to go inside the pyramid?
How big was the Sphinx?
How big were each brick that made up the pyramid?

Wow, what an adventure you are on. I hope you find Jose soon. How hot was it out at the Pyramids? It looks very sunny, dry and hot but you both look like you are having an amazing trip.
