Dear Parents, Relatives, and Friends,
It is our privilege as the Executive Board of the San Jose Episcopal Day School's Parents' Association to welcome each and every one of you as members. In the Parables of our Lord, Matthew 5:15 states that: "Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and giveth light unto all that are in the house." It is the goal of the Parents' Association to have all give that light to our beloved children and our school. We encourage all to become involved at each and every level in order to keep that light burning!
Our Parents' Association was formed 20 years ago and continues to grow and prosper. Over the past two years, the Executive Board Members have been working to bring our Mission Statement more current with the times. As approved this past May, it now reads:
Through programs and events reflecting our love for children and Christian values, the Parents' Association will endeavor to cultivate a strong sense of community, promote academic and spiritual enrichment and support the School's mission.
The Parents' Association provides numerous opportunities for our children, parents, and volunteers. We host 18 committees that encompass activities for parents, the school and our children. These include our annual General PA Meetings, Sock Hop, Book Fair/Spaghetti Dinner, Art Day, Gala, and Spring Fling, to name a few. In addition, this year, under the leadership of the Libby and Collier Families, we are adding a Golf Tournament.
Through the activities sponsored by the Parents' Association, we hope to be able to financially contribute approximately $15,000 to the school this year. This would not be possible without the efforts and countless hours given by our parents and volunteers.
Please complete and return all forms to the School Office by Friday, August 3, 2007. A timely return will enable us to process requests most efficiently and accurately. Thanks to all of you for all you contribute throughout the year!
In the words of Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart." The Parents' Association is the heart of the school and we welcome you into it!
Kindest Regards,
Kim Shaffer
Parents' Association President
