San Jose Episcopal's School Counselor

MOLLY PINA

Our family has been blessed to part of this school for over 8 years. I have one son Matthew in 6th grade, another son Joshua in 2nd and Kevin who is in kindergarten. We are also in the process of adopting a baby girl from China.  San Jose Episcopal Day School has been such an important part of our lives, and I love being a part of this fine institution.

Ever since I was in grade school, I knew that I wanted to be in a profession that helped people.  I graduated from the University of the South, otherwise known as Sewanee, in 1992 with a Bachelor's in Psychology.  I am currently 2 semesters away from completing my M.Ed. in Counselor Education at the University of North Florida.  This is my second year at San Jose Episcopal as a school counselor.

What is a school counselor?
Add my name to a list of people that you can turn to when you need help. School counselors know how to listen and can help children with life's ups and downs. A school counselor is a trained professional who can assist children in solving problems, making decisions, and standing up for themselves. I am here not only for the children, but for the teachers and even the parents.  I conduct guidance classroom lessons, individual counseling sessions and workshops for both teachers and parents.
What is a school counseling session like? Is it confidential?
These are both important questions to ask! I will ask questions about your problems, and we will both discuss ways to find a peaceful solution. Our discussions will be kept confidential, with the only exception being concerns over safety. If you feel the need to see me, please tell your teacher and he or she will get in touch with me. Please know that I am always available and ready to help.

The most important goal that I have is to ensure the happiness of the children here at San Jose Episcopal Day School and that they all have the same equal opportunity to receive a wonderful education.
